Best Etsy SEO tools in 2026 (free and paid)

Quick answer:

  • Best overall: eRank, for the deepest keyword and listing-audit data at a low price
  • Best free option: Etsy's own Marketplace Insights plus eRank's free plan
  • Best for beginners: Alura, for the simplest interface and AI listing help
  • Best budget paid tool: Koalanda, with unlimited searches from $5.99 a month

Your title, tags, attributes and category tell Etsy what you sell, and how shoppers react to your listing helps decide how high it ranks. An Etsy SEO tool takes the guessing out of the first part. It shows you which words buyers actually type, how many other listings compete for them, and where your listings are missing keywords.

Prices were checked on each tool's website in October 2026 and are in USD. They change often, so confirm before you subscribe.

What an Etsy SEO tool actually does

Etsy search works in two steps. First it finds listings that match a shopper's search, using your title, tags, attributes, categories and description. Then it ranks those listings, weighing relevance, how shoppers engage with each listing and your shop's customer service record. (Etsy explains the full process in its Seller Handbook.)

SEO tools help mostly with the first step. Most of them do four jobs:

  1. Keyword research. They show how often shoppers search a phrase and how many listings compete for it, so you can find the top Etsy keywords in your niche that you can realistically rank for.
  2. Tag and title checks. They audit your listings for unused tags, repeated words and spelling errors.
  3. Competitor data. They show what best-selling listings in your category use for titles and tags, and some estimate their sales.
  4. Trend research. They show which searches are growing and when seasonal demand peaks.

No tool can see Etsy's ranking algorithm. Search volumes from third-party tools are estimates. Etsy's own Marketplace Insights is the only source that uses Etsy's real search data.

The best Etsy SEO tools in 2026

1. eRank: best overall

Best for: Sellers who want keyword research, listing audits and competitor tracking in one tool.

Price: Free plan. Basic $5.99/month, Pro $9.99/month, Expert $29.99/month, with lower prices on yearly billing.

eRank is one of the most popular Etsy SEO tools (the company says over 2 million sellers use it), and its free plan is enough to learn the basics. You get 5 keyword lookups a day, 5 listing audits a day and one connected shop with up to 50 listings. Paid plans raise those limits and add keyword ideas and competitor monitoring.

eRank stands out for its listing audits. Its health check flags missing tags, spelling errors and titles that don't use your keywords well, which is the fastest way to fix an existing shop.

How to use eRank for Etsy SEO:

  1. Connect your Etsy shop and run a listing audit to find missing tags and weak titles.
  2. Search your main product in the Keyword Tool and shortlist phrases with steady searches and fewer competing listings.
  3. Add the best phrases to your title and all 13 tags, then check the listing again in a few weeks.

eRank pulls its data from the Etsy API and its own research. Its search volumes are estimates, not Etsy's official numbers.

Watch out for: The dashboard has a lot of menus, and it can feel overwhelming at first.

2. EverBee: best for product research

Best for: Sellers deciding what to make next.

Price: Free Hobby plan. Growth $24.99/month billed yearly ($299/year). Business $69/month billed yearly.

EverBee started as a Chrome extension that shows estimated sales, revenue and views for listings while you browse Etsy. It's still best at answering "is anyone actually buying this?" before you make a new product. The free plan covers basic product analytics (views, reviews, favorites) and 10 keyword searches. Growth adds sales and conversion estimates, unlimited keyword research with a Keyword Score, and a tag analyzer.

Watch out for: It's one of the more expensive tools, and the sales numbers are estimates. Use them to compare products, not to forecast your income.

3. Alura: best for beginners

Best for: New sellers who want a clean interface and guided listing help.

Price: Free plan. Basic is $7.99/month, or $95.88 billed yearly. Growth and Professional plans add more data.

Alura is the easiest of these tools to pick up. The free plan includes 5 keyword and product searches a day, a Chrome extension, a profit calculator and AI listing optimization that suggests better titles, tags and descriptions. Paid plans add more searches, historical data, CSV exports and A/B tests on the higher tiers.

Watch out for: The free plan's daily limits run out quickly, and many of the advanced features, like historical data and exports, start at the Growth plan.

4. Marmalead: best for keyword engagement data

Best for: Sellers who care about which keywords lead to clicks and sales, not just search volume.

Price: $19/month, $190/year, or a $300 one-time lifetime plan.

Marmalead focuses on keywords. Its MarmaMeters score each keyword on searches, engagement and competition. It also shows keyword seasonality and forecasts, and it compares keywords side by side. Its listing grader gives each listing a simple letter grade based on SEO and sales factors.

Watch out for: There's no free plan, and it does less competitor and product research than EverBee or EHunt.

5. Sale Samurai: best for demand and trends

Best for: Sellers who want one simple paid plan with every feature included.

Price: Free plan with 20 keyword searches and 10 listing analyses a month. Paid is $19.99/month or $199.90/year, with a 3-day free trial.

Sale Samurai gives you Etsy search volume and trends, keyword competition, top-selling listing research, a shop analytics dashboard and a Chrome extension on the paid plan. There's only one paid level, so you get every feature either way.

Watch out for: The free plan is small and the trial is only 3 days, so plan your research before you start it.

6. EHunt (also known as EtsyHunt): best for competitor research

Best for: Researching competing products, shops and Etsy Ads in one place.

Price: Free plan. Basic $7.99/month billed yearly. Pro $15.99/month and Elite $29.99/month, both billed yearly.

EHunt covers product search, keyword search, store analysis and ad research. The free plan gives you 5 product and 5 keyword searches a day. The Basic plan raises those to about 100 a day and adds listing optimization and a Chrome extension.

Watch out for: Its keyword competition scores are broader than eRank's or Marmalead's. It's better for spotting products and competitors than for fine-tuning tags.

7. Koalanda: best budget keyword tool

Best for: Sellers who want unlimited keyword searches for the lowest price.

Price: Free plan with limited searches. $5.99/month billed yearly ($71.88), $9.99/month billed quarterly, or $11.99 month to month.

Koalanda is the cheapest way to get unlimited searches. Every paid plan includes all features, unlimited keyword lists and up to 5 connected shops. It also offers free tools for keyword trends, top shops and top categories.

Watch out for: It's a smaller company with fewer tutorials and less community support than eRank or Alura.

8. Etsy Marketplace Insights: best free source of real Etsy data

Best for: Every seller, as the free baseline.

Price: Free (15 keyword searches a week). Unlimited with an Etsy Plus subscription.

Etsy built its own keyword tool into Shop Manager. Go to Shop Manager → Stats → Marketplace Insights. It shows the number of searches and listings for a term over the last 30 days, related terms and trending searches in your categories. Because it's Etsy's own data, it's the most accurate search volume you can get.

Under Stats, you can also see the search terms that already bring shoppers to your shop. Those are the first keywords to protect.

Watch out for: It works on desktop and mobile web only, not in the Etsy Seller app. The free limit is 15 searches a week.

9. Google Trends: best for seasonal demand

Best for: Timing seasonal products.

Price: Free.

Google Trends doesn't show Etsy data. It does show when interest in a product rises and falls each year, so you know when to list a holiday product. Compare two product phrases, set the region to the United States and look at the past five years to see the seasonal pattern.

Watch out for: Google searches and Etsy searches don't always match. Check the keyword in an Etsy tool before you use it.

10. ChatGPT and AI writers: best for first drafts

Best for: Quickly writing title, description and tag ideas.

Price: Free and paid plans.

AI chat tools are good at turning your product details into a clear description or brainstorming 30 tag ideas in seconds. They don't know what Etsy shoppers actually search for. Use them for drafts, then check every keyword against a real data source.

Watch out for: AI writers can make up product details or stuff titles with keywords. Read everything before you publish, and make sure the description matches the item exactly.

Free vs paid Etsy SEO tools: which do you need?

You don't need every Etsy seller tool on this list. Match the tool to the size of your shop.

If you have fewer than 20 listings, start free. Etsy Marketplace Insights, eRank's free plan and Google Trends cover keyword research, basic audits and seasonality at no cost.

If you're growing and listing often, pay for one tool. eRank Basic or Pro is the best value for SEO, and Koalanda is the cheapest unlimited option. EverBee is the better choice if product research matters more to you than tags.

If you run a large shop or several shops, consider a higher tier of a single tool before you add a second one. Three overlapping subscriptions usually means paying for data you never open.

How to choose the right Etsy SEO tool

Ask yourself three questions:

  1. What's your main problem? Listings not showing up → a keyword and audit tool (eRank, Marmalead, Koalanda). Not sure what to make next → a product research tool (EverBee, EHunt). Not sure where to start → Alura.
  2. What's your budget? Free: Marketplace Insights and eRank Free. Under $10/month: eRank Basic or Pro, Koalanda, or Alura Basic. $20+/month: EverBee, Marmalead or Sale Samurai.
  3. Do you need sales estimates? EverBee, Alura and EHunt are the strongest at them. If you don't need them, a cheaper keyword tool will do.

Try the free plan or trial before you subscribe. The best tool is the one you open every time you list a product.

The part SEO tools can't fix: your photos

Keywords get your listing into search results. Shoppers decide whether to click it. Etsy uses listing engagement (clicks, favorites and purchases) to decide how high a listing ranks, so a listing with the right keywords and a weak first photo still loses.

The first photo is the only one a shopper sees in search results. If it's dark, cluttered or cropped badly, shoppers scroll past, and Etsy sees the low engagement. A sharp, well-lit first photo gets more clicks from the same ranking position, and those clicks are a signal Etsy uses to rank the listing.

Before you buy another SEO tool, check your photos:

  • Is the product clear and filling the frame at thumbnail size?
  • Do all your listings share the same lighting and background, so your shop looks consistent?
  • Does the photo still work after Etsy crops it for search, mobile and your shop page?

Our guides on Etsy listing photo size and how to photograph jewelry for Etsy cover the exact sizes and crops. If you shoot on your phone, start with how to take product photos with your phone. To skip the reshoot, BrandShots turns one phone photo into clean listing shots and lifestyle images in under a minute.

What is the best Etsy SEO tool?

For most sellers it's eRank. It has a usable free plan, paid plans from $5.99 a month, and listing audits that show exactly what to fix. Beginners who want something simpler should try Alura. Sellers whose main question is "what should I make next?" will get more out of EverBee.

Are there free Etsy SEO tools?

Yes. Etsy's Marketplace Insights is free for 15 keyword searches a week and uses Etsy's real search data. eRank, Alura, EverBee, EHunt, Sale Samurai and Koalanda all have free plans with limits, and Google Trends is free for seasonal research. Combined, they're enough for a new shop.

How long does it take for Etsy SEO to work?

Etsy picks up changes to titles and tags quickly, and sellers often see new and renewed listings get a short bump in visibility. Lasting rankings take longer, because they depend on engagement and sales data building up. Give a change at least 2–4 weeks before you judge it, and change one thing at a time so you know what worked.

What is the Etsy title character limit?

An Etsy listing title can be up to 140 characters. Etsy recommends short, clear titles that say what the item is, rather than a string of keywords. Put the most important words first, because they're the ones shoppers see in search results.

Does alt text help SEO on Etsy?

Alt text helps Google understand your photos, and that can help your listings appear in Google Image results. Etsy allows up to 250 characters per photo. Describe what's in the photo, such as "speckled beige ceramic mug with a rounded handle on a linen tablecloth", rather than repeating your tags. It also makes your listing accessible to shoppers who use screen readers.

Common mistakes

  • Paying for three tools that do the same job. Pick one paid tool and learn it well.
  • Trusting third-party search volumes as exact numbers. They're estimates. Check important keywords in Marketplace Insights.
  • Using only 10 of your 13 tags. Every empty tag is a search you could have shown up for.
  • Stuffing the title. A title full of repeated keywords reads badly in search and puts shoppers off.
  • Copying a competitor's tags word for word. Their tags fit their product, not yours.
  • Fixing keywords and ignoring the first photo. If nobody clicks, the ranking doesn't last.
